The mission of CHI is to help health care professionals reduce deaths related to heart disease through education, prevention and intervention in medically underserved areas of developing African countries.
CHI will achieve its mission by:
- Educating health care professionals and community members in medically underserved areas of developing African countries about heart disease and the impact caused by it.
- Preventing heart disease through the promotion of healthy behaviors such as physical activity, healthy diet, and smoking or drinking cessation, and by encouraging screening for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
- Intervening by not only training health care providers and community members in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, first aid, and the use of AED, but also by collecting or purchasing and donating medical supplies/equipment to the community health centers and/or hospitals.
